Formula E and DHL, the Official Founding and Logistics Partnerof the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, today announced amulti-year partnership extension starting in the Gen3 era tocontinue bringing the importance of sustainability to cities aroundthe world.
DHL is the Official Founding Partner and has been the OfficialLogistics Partner of the world’s first all-electric motorsportchampionship since 2014. With 40 years of international motorsportexperience, DHL was instrumental in converting the concept ofall-electric racing into reality with the inaugural race in Beijingthat same year. Since then, DHL has supported Formula E through themilestone 100th race which concluded last season in Seoul,South Korea, and was also the 26th world city to host aFormula E race.
Season 9 and the Gen3 era begins this Saturday with the 2023Hankook Mexico City E-Prix. The race will see the competitive debutof the Gen3 – the fastest, lightest, most powerful, and efficientelectric race car ever built – while Season 9 features 16 races in11 iconic world cities including first-time visits to Hyderabad,Cape Town, São Paulo, and Portland, Oregon.
DHL’s partnership provides state-of-the-art sustainablelogistics, incorporating tailored multimodal-transport, includingboth road and sea freight, that maximizes efficiency and reducesCO2 emissions. Through using biofuels for all road and sea freight,DHL will travel over 89,000 kilometers for the upcoming season,moving approximately 415 tons of valuable freight per race,including race cars, batteries, charging units, broadcastequipment, and marketing and hospitality equipment.

DHL and Formula E will also continue to reflect their commonvalues through the “Together Green” platform, as DHL’s yellow andFormula E’s blue colors combine in a vision of a greener future.The activities will include, but are not limited to, collaborationswith sustainability developments across new and old race grounds,whilst showcasing the thrill of Formula E.

As a green logistics pioneer, in 2008 DHL became the firstlogistics company to commit to a measurable carbon efficiencytarget, pledging to improve carbon efficiency by 30% (versus 2007)by the year 2021. This goal was achieved four years ahead ofschedule, in 2016, while in March 2017 it announced a commitment toachieve net zero emissions by 2050. In 2021, DPDHL Groupcommitted to invest 7 billion euros in clean operations andclimate-neutral logistics by 2030. The funds, will for example, beused to electrify 60% of the last mile fleet by 2030, putting morethan 80,000 e-vehicles on the road.
